Yarraville - St Georges Theatre

Today Lps and I swung over to West Footscray to see my friend, Tania's new baby. Cute! On the way home we attempted to buy cheese kranskys from Andrews Butcher in Yarraville, but alas- it was closed. So I went and had a quick squiz at the old St Georges Theatre around the corner.

Smoke Stack - Gas technology Centre, Moorabbin

This is the old Gas Technology Centre in Nepean Hwy - Right next to the Moorabbin Courts.
All that remains is a smokestack.

Primo site for redevelopment- I can only assume the ground is a bit toxic, to remain empty for so long.

I was intrigued to pass this space on the train on my way down to Mordialloc for a wedding, and insisted Nick accompany me back to have a wander.

There's gate access via the court carpark, however I saw a guy walking his dog- so I am sure there is entry points all around- especially as it backs onto a recent housing development.

n
The very recognisable blue gates.

Pt 2. Jacques- Abandoned Stone Crushing Factory, Richmond

Getting some snazzy aerial shots of the warehouse with the helicopter camera!

Pt 1. Jacques- Abandoned Stone Crushing Factory, Richmond

I was lucky enough to get into the old Jacques stone crushing factory in Richmond, pre Aspbestos removal & pre transformation into Studio Apartments.

The Old Yorkshire Brewery, Robert St

If there is one thing I can't get enough of, it's exploring abandoned, derelict, dated, spaces around Melbourne. There's some sort of an intense pull, that has me out of the car and peering in and around areas that both spook & intrigue me.

Today, when I found myself at 38 weeks pregnant in the Ace Carpark off Landridge St, contemplating whether or not to enter the old building whilst as big as a house, with shakey pre-baby hips and flimsy slippery sandals on- I realised I may have somewhat of an obsession.

An obsession I decided to (finally!) blog about!

This is the site of the Old Yorkshire Brewery.

After doing location recces for years for my TV job, I hopefully have enough of a library to kickstart my lil "Abandoned Svenson Haart Blog". Partly because my filing system is so bad- this blog will make sure I can always find my fav photos!
